Killed by Kobolds?

This weekend we finally got in some gaming with the crew. Started a new HackMaster campaign. I went with my standard fantasy RPG charator, the Dwarven fighter. HackMaster is a bit different as all stats carry some fairly important weight. There is no "dump" stat where you can safely put a low score. Not to mention the HackMaster world is deadly. My Dwarven fighter started out pretty good, we were fighting a lot of Kobolds and he had taken out 2 of them. Then we came to a cave with 6 of the little buggers inside holding a family hostage. My not so subtle (and dishonored) fighter charged in and killed one of them instantly. The others stood up and started tossing small spears. This had been going on all evening and was really no threat. Until the GM (Dusty) rolled really really good for damage. 26 points of damage in 1 hit. I went from fighting to unconscious in 1 hit. Not only was my poor fighter down, he was down to -9 HP. The last Kobold was going to change targets when Dusty realized that he had stated that they were all going to attack me at the start of the round. So the last one threw his spear and hit for 5 more points of damage. My poor dwarf was finished. I started rolling up a new character while the gang continued fighting. When the dust cleared the group was battered but had won. While freeing the hostages Dusty told them that they found a halfling theif that had been with the others. Guess what the new character is. Yep, stepping out of my safety box and started playing a halfling theif. We'll see how long he lasts.

Had a really producttive weekend. Lawn is mowed, gate is fixed, and throwing knife targets are ready to hang. The best thing is that the server is up and fully functioning. I have a few more tweaks to make on it. Need to make sure webmail is configured. I want to get FTP running on it and should get ssh working so EricSki can log in and get his applets running. But the major stuff is working. If you email me and anything weird happens make sure to let me know so I can check the mail logs.
