Wednesday - We had announced the plan was to be "wheels up" at 0600 (the plan was to tell our passengers that it would be 0600 so we could actually be on the road by 0800). They shocked us and got to the house early. The original plan was to take their car. Alas after trying to get everything packed we realized that plan wasn't going to work so we transferred everything to KnitTech's car "Faye" and were off at 0630. We arrived at Mom's house at 1500 (seems that I was adding an hour instead of subtracting in my estimation of arrival time). My sister and her boys were in town so we got to spend their last night in town. It was great seeing them and the boys were a lot of fun. Mom cooked up one her Spaghetti dinners that we all enjoyed. Even picky eater Kommandant enjoyed it.
Wednesday Evening/Night - One of my friends came down from Seattle. He spent a lot of time in Germany so he wanted to treat us to a night at a German Pub, or at least as close to one as Portland offers. We all met up at Prost and had a great time. It was great to see my friend and his twin brother. Hadn't seen him in about 20 years so we had a lot of catching up to do. He taught me how to do German toasts and introduced me to a fantastic beer called Aventinus. Not hoppy and a great malt flavor. My friend from Seattle handed me 2 bottles to take back with me in exchange for a 6 pack of my home brews. I hope he likes the Lambics and I hope that I'll be able to find Aventinus here in Boise.
Part 2 coming up.

Sounds like a pretty good vacation, and I am just happy if we leave before the next meal. Always shoot for around noon (lunch time) but we usually get left about halfway to dinner time.
